where is the love?
As the year comes to a close, and with all the rainy days or journey home alone, I find myself filled with flashbacks or reflections of my 2009. Of late, especially, I keep having thoughts about people. People in general. And the people who cross paths with me. It's really scary sometimes the way people turn out. Suddenly, I don't seem to know them anyway. But then again, it really beats me whether I have really know them at all or not? I must admit I live in a cove. A caterpillar's cove. Where I feel loved and warmth. And in this little world of mine everyone is nice. Genuinely nice. I don't really like the world out there.. Where is the love? Thankfully, there are the really nice ones in my life. For more than anything, I am awfully grateful to have been blessed by their presence. But it got us thinking about Loss, Memory and the whole idea of Rememberance. The loss of special people in our lives, and how this loss translates into the subsequent loss of our memory of them. They say that memory lives in the hearts of people, but how much can we actually remember to their finest detail. As humans, we have weaknesses and natural instincts such as forgetfulness. And as we forget and try to remember, this process of remembering may be just our perspective of it, how we desire for that memory to be shaped and reconstructed. In this reconstuction, the realness and essence of it might be diminished. But essentially, what is real and what is not? And as we try to preserve moments by cautiously trying to savour moments, we are ironically altering the reality of it all. Afterall, what we have are just moments, fleeting moments. It scares me. |
