what's in thy name?
simplicity: looking at the inner heart of things and seeing things whole.

I still find each day too short for all the thoughts I want to think, all the walks I want to take, all the books I want to read, and all the friends I want to see. — John Burroughs

# Lesson
I'm thankful to have been given the opportunity to work in an environment I like. What's more precious is the staff culture and good-naturedness of the kiddies. I'm lucky, and I'm thankful for the lucky stars. Over the years, the kiddies/students have taught me so much more than I could ever ever have taught them in any way. They mould me into a better person and really stretch my limits. Teaching is my calling. I can feel it in my bones. But not so much of being the teacher, rather, I would want to help my kiddies realise their optimal potential and discover the strengths in them which they might have forgotten somewhere along the way. Yesterday, I was taught a lesson on determination, perseverance, courage and positive attitude. There was this girl with some physical obstacles. She geared herself up to challenge the high element. Halfway up the starting point, she was screaming away with might. But she managed to calm herself down and control it. And she gathered enough courage to climb up again. Well, eventually she didn't made it up there. But I thought her courage was admirable. Despite the limitations in her physical abilities, she attempted. At that moment, I told her she is a champion. I think many a times we get so caught up with our own "commitments" to the extent of being so sick sometimes, perhaps; we forgot how to carry on. Looking at her, and then thinking about where I am now at this juncture of my life. I am guilty to have the thoughts of giving up some things at some point of my life. My kiddies have taught me so much more than I could ever ever have taught them...

gratitude I am so glad the examinations and academic hell (according to the lovelies) are finally over for now. It's been some many weeks of roller coaster rides with events/things/people/emotional all knocking on my door almost simultaneously. I must say, it's been one of the most strenuous month. Well, I managed to survived, anyway.I had one of the most heartfelt conversation with love recently. And I am very very thankful + grateful to have my family and friends around. I realise I couldn't have been where and who I am now, if not for them. Sometimes life gets busy, we get so tied up with datelines to meet and so much more to juggle. These are the people who will always be there down and out, rain or shine, thick and thin. As I grow older, I begin to realise that sometimes it's not easy to keep the close friends close because there are bound to be time when you'll go without seeing each other for months or even years (like how I haven't met Ayantika for at least 2 summers now). Nevertheless, they who will be close will stay close for very long. And it's even harder to meet new friends who are gems. It takes time to build friendships and make connections. But I think, when you meet the right people with the vibes that connect with one another (which hardly hardly ever comes by), you'll make the new friends who will be the other group of close friends. I am very thankful for the lovelies in school. As well as all the other people in school who have been very kind and helpful in many ways. I am thankful to live through each day learning so much more from my kiddies than I could ever have taught them. It's a blessing to have everyone I have in my life. And I am very very grateful.

heartstrings
All this time we try to mould into another persons ideal. But it's never enough, there always something lacking, something thats missing. And for what purpose? We beat ourselves up, thinking we're just not good enough. At the end of the day all thats left of ourselves is shut away and kept like a skeleton in our closets. Funny how we feel ashamed of who we really are - awkward self-conscious individuals. Then we find someone who embraces us, encourages the side of ourselves that we've carefully kept hidden to surface. That's the kind of love i want. |
