Tuesdays with Morrie
One afternoon, I am complaining about the confusion of my age, what is expected of me versus what I want for myself. "Have I told you about the tension of opposites?" he says. The tension of opposites? "Life is a series of pulls back and forth. You want to do one thing, but you are bound to do something else. Something hurts you, yet you know it shouldn't. You take certain things for granted, even when you know you should never take anything for granted. "A tension of opposites, like a pull on a rubber band. And most of us live somewhere in the middle." Sounds like a wrestling match, I say. "A wrestling match." He laughs. "Yes, you could describe life that way. "So which side wins, I ask? "Which side wins?" He smiles at me, the crinkled eyes, the crooked teeth. "Love wins. Love always wins"

it's ok she’s strong, because she knows what it’s like to be weak. I was born with an enormous need for affection & a terrible need to give it.

We cannot change our past. We can not change the fact that people act in a certain way. We can not change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. - Charles Swindoll

love me tender
No one ever said that life would be fair, or that the moments you wanted to last forever would. As you start to realize, people who once said that they cared can stop in an instant and those people who once made you the happiest, are now the ones who make you cry. You realize that no matter how much you care about someone, that it doesn't mean they will care about you, and that letting go of something isn't hard, it's what you leave behind that's the hard part. You realize that you can't make someone love you and you'd be better off not falling in love in the first place. You realize that kisses don't always mean something and promises can be broken, just as quickly as they are made. You know you really love someone when you don’t hate them for breaking your heart.

surreality and reality you know how when you were a little kid and you believed in fairy tales, that fantasy of what your life would be? white dress, prince charming who would carry you away to a castle on a hill. you would lie in bed at night and close your eyes and you had complete and utter faith. santa clause, the tooth fairy, prince charming; they were so close you could taste them, but eventually - you grow up. one day you open your eyes and the fairy tale disappears. most people turn to the things and people they can trust, but the thing is: it's hard to let go of that fairy tale entirely because almost everyone has that smallest bit of hope, of faith, that one day they will open their eyes and it will come true.

everything in its time
in some, or rather in most ways, i believe everything has been planned and will slowly be revealed. yet somedays i find me looking at myself being stagnant at this very beginning of a new chapter in life. and then, i can't help but wonder whether i need to feel lousy about it... it's true not many people get to have the luxury to slow down and smell the roses, and eventually think about the future and the way one would like to go. and it's probably because of how the society works, how everything seems to be common and typical so when you're not part of the big crowd, you feel misfit. i don't regret having the time and luxury to enjoy this year even though peers/friends are moving on with their lives. it's a journey. and i am very thankful for all the important people in my life, lovelies at school, and my darling kiddies. &hearts
